David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is an American-Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was born on November 21, 1992, in Lagos, Nigeria. Davido combines traditional African themes with current pop music from throughout the world.

After releasing “Dami Duro,” the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo, Davido won the Next Rated award at The Headies in 2012. (2012).

He had a string of hit singles between 2013 and 2015, and in January 2016, he got a record deal with Sony Music. He then launched the Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) record company, which has signed acts like Dremo, Mayorkun, Peruzzi, and Liya. Davido secured a record deal with Sony’s RCA Records in July 2016. In November 2019, Davido released his second studio album, A Good Time, which was followed by tracks such as “Blow My Mind,” which featured prominent American singer Chris Brown. In 2019, New African magazine named Davido one of the Top 100 most influential Africans. [10] On Friday, November 13, 2020, he released his third studio album, A Better Time. as of Davido is the second most following African on the social media app Instagram as of August 2021.

Davido was featured alongside (Trinidad Cardona and AISHA) on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” in March 2022, the first single from the multi-song FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM Official Soundtrack. Davido became the first Nigerian singer to be featured in a FIFA World Cup single with this song.

Davido followed up with another “Stand Strong” in May 2022, this one featuring The Samples Choir. According to the Naija banquet, the song is a departure from the Nigerian singer’s regular hip-hop/dance approach. Davido reflects on his musical path and the struggles he faces on a daily basis in the song. It’s also the narrative of his recovery.

David Adedeji Adeleke was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 21, 1992. Adedeji Adeleke, his father, is a business entrepreneur, and Vero Adeleke, his mother, was a university instructor. Davido is the second-born son of his father and the youngest of five siblings. He went to the British International School in Lagos, Nigeria, before returning to the United States at the age of 16 to study business management at Oakwood University in Alabama.

OMO BABA OLOWO’S MUSICAL CAREER FROM 2011 TO 2012

In 2011, Davido began production on his debut studio album, Omo Baba Olowo. The music on the album is a blend of Afrobeats and hip hop. The album was produced by Davido, Jay Sleek, Maleek Berry, GospelOnDeBeatz, Spellz, Dokta Frabz, Mr. Chidoo, Theory Soundz, and Shizzi. Naeto C, Sina Rambo, B-Red, Kayswitch, Ice Prince, and 2 Face Idibia make cameo appearances on Omo Baba Olowo. Music critics criticised the lyrical content and Davido’s songwriting, and it garnered mostly poor reviews. At The Headies 2013, the album won Best R&B/Pop Album and was nominated for Album of the Year. At the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, it was also nominated for Best Album of the Year.
